Large Kelley Square Menorah Located, Was Not Stolen

WORCESTER, MA — A menorah set up in the roundabout at Kelley Square that was reported missing has been found, according to Worcester police, and was likely not stolen.

Police initially said detectives were investigating the theft of the menorah on Wednesday morning. But the item was found in the afternoon near the roundabout, a police spokesperson said.

The Kelley Square menorah was one of two large Hanukkah displays in downtown Worcester, with a second behind City Hall. It was built and sponsored by Salisbury Construction, according to the Central Massachusetts Torah Center.

Menorahs are used to count each of the eight nights of Hanukkah. The Jewish holiday began on Dec. 10 and ends on Friday. Last week, the Torah Center shared a photo of Salisbury Construction's Jon Lapin lighting the first candle.
