Missing Springfield Girl Found 'Safe And Sound': MA State Police
Charlotte Moccia, 11, was found Wednesday night after an Amber Alert. One person was arrested in connection to her disappearance.
SPRINGFIELD, MA — A missing 11-year-old girl who was reportedly abducted along a Springfield street was found safe on Wednesday night, according to state police. One person was arrested in connection to Charlotte Moccia's disappearance.
The vehicle police identified in an Amber Alert was spotted stopped along the Mass Pike in the eastbound lanes near Sturbridge, police said. State police from the Charlton barracks made the traffic stop after a driver called in a tip.
Springfield police identified the suspect as Miguel Rodriguez, 24, of Springfield. Charges were forthcoming, police said.
"Her condition looks fair to good, not sure what she went through at this point," Springfield Police Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood said of Moccia's condition during a press conference. Moccia was being evaluated for any injuries.
The abduction happened around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday when a white or Hispanic man was seen forcing Moccia into a blue Honda Civic near the corner of Princeton and Amherst streets, which is in a neighborhood northeast of downtown Springfield.
Clapprood added that Rodriguez had taken Moccia for "nefarious" reasons.
This photo of a blue Honda was taken yesterday in the same area of Springfield where the abduction of CHARLOTTE MOCCIA occurred today. We believe it is the same vehicle involved in the abduction. Please note car is blue and has no inspection sticker and no front plate. pic.twitter.com/6RTaKHwaoc
