SPENCER, MA — A 65-year-old Spencer woman who was reported missing on Sunday was found on Monday in a wooded area. Jeanette St. Peters was alive, but was "suffering from the elements," Spencer police said.

St. Peters went for a walk Sunday afternoon in the woods off of Martin Street, police said, but never returned. Search crews — including local police and fire, K9 dogs, and state police — fanned out in that area, and after 10 hours St. Peters was found about a mile from her home, crouched "in a kneeling position," police said.

She was taken out of the woods in a police all-terrain vehicle, and then was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.
