National Chicken Chain Expands In Worcester County

WORCESTER COUNTY, MA — A national chicken chain is preparing to expand its presence in Worcester County with a new restaurant.

Chick-fil-A will open at 905 Merriam Ave. in Twin City Plaza, the business announced in a social media post. The location, which is near the Leominster-Fitchburg line, will open on Oct. 8.

Mary Herndon Harrington will serve as the restaurant’s owner-operator. Harrington previously worked as a restaurant director at several Greater Boston Chick-fil-A locations, a field trainer and a member of the company’s leadership development program, according to a post announcing her new role.

The new eatery replaces a former Uno Pizzeria & Grill. Plans presented to the Leominster Planning Board called for demolishing the former restaurant and constructing a 5,200-square-foot building with indoor dining, an outdoor patio and a two-lane drive-thru, according to city meeting minutes.

The restaurant is hiring front- and back-of-house employees. Four positions with advertised pay ranging from $15 to $18.50 per hour were listed on the location’s hiring page.

Chick-fil-A also operates Worcester County restaurants in Worcester and Westborough.
