New Affordable Worcester Apartments Open To Applicants

The Main South Community Development Corp. built the new homes along Grand Street over the past year.

WORCESTER, MA — A new affordable housing development in Worcester's Main South neighborhood is now accepting applications for future tenants.

The Main South Community Development Corp. built the 48 new town homes along Grand Street over the past year. The development offers one, two and three-bedroom units, plus parking and green space.

Tenants will be selected through a lottery, and the units are only available to people and families who earn no more than 60 percent of the area median income. That ranges between about $41,000 for a single person up to almost $69,000 for a six-person household. Several units will also be reserved for families earning 50 percent and 30 percent of the area median income.

The apartments are still under construction, with the first units expected to open by Aug. 1. Applications will be accepted through June 3.

Stop by the Main South CDC office at 875 Main St. to pick up an application. You can also request one via mail or email by calling (508) 752-6181.
