New Medical Marijuana Dispensary Set to Open In Worcester

Another medical marijuana dispensary is set to open Friday in Worcester.

WORCESTER, MA- Worcester will gain another medical marijuana dispensary as The Botanist dispensary plans to open the doors to its shop on Pullman Street on Friday.

The Botanist is the new brand for Acreage Holdings' dispensaries. Acreage is a multi-state cannabis operator and investment company, with headquarters in New York. The Worcester Botanist is the first of three Botanist locations planned for Massachusetts, with Leominster and Shrewsbury expected to open in the coming months.

The dispensary markets itself as having "a unique experiential design, blending nature and science in an immersive retail environment that is inspired by 19th Century laboratories, greenhouses and the study of botany."

Among the planned products to sell are flower, vape cartridges, edibles, concentrates and tinctures as well as "a family of proprietary Botanist cannabis products," that are currently in development. The store plans to debut them soon.

Chris Tolford, General Manager of The Botanist in Massachusetts said the dispensary wants patients to feel comfortable accessing treatment options. “Additionally, in keeping with The Botanist’s commitment to education and a customer experience unlike other cannabis retail stores, we look forward to offering a rich program of education and educational events," he said.

Events like cannabis 101 classes, therapeutic therapy classes and meet the head grower events will be promoted by the dispensary.

The opening comes on the heels of the Cannabis Control Commission's announcement on Monday, to move its headquarters to Worcester. The Botanist medical dispensary will be the seventh medical dispensary to set up shop in the city so far.
