WESTBOROUGH, MA — A group of longtime and new residents has launched a nonprofit foundation to support Westborough’s planned intergenerational Community Center.

The Westborough Community Center Foundation will raise supplemental funds for the renovation and long-term sustainability of the future center at 1500 Union St. The town-owned building is planned to house an Active-Living Senior Center and Recreation Center, bringing health, recreation, social services and community programming under one roof.

The foundation operates independently from the town. Donations from businesses, corporations, individuals and grant programs will be used to enhance town-funded programs and services.

The founding board includes Co-Presidents Evilee Ebb and Mirtha Leslie, Secretary Sara Dullea, Treasurer Dee Angelakis and Director Maureen Johnson.

“We’re building more than a Community Center — we’re building a future where every generation in Westborough has a place to connect, grow and thrive,” Ebb wrote in an announcement. “This project is a long-term investment in the health, resilience and spirit of our town, and the Foundation’s role is to ensure it remains strong for generations to come.”

Leslie said the project would create a welcoming, accessible space for older adults, families, children, veterans and other residents.

“A Community Center should feel like home the moment you walk through the door,” Leslie said.

The foundation is accepting tax-deductible donations online, by mail at P.O. Box 72, Westborough, MA 01581 or through donor-advised funds using EIN 42-2465044.
