A man is facing several charges after harassing an ex-girlfriend, showing up at her house while the police were there, and stabbing a cop.

WORCESTER, MA—A man is facing several charges after he violated a restraining order, showed up at his ex-girlfriend's house, and stabbed an officer in the face.
On Sunday, July 17, at 4 a.m., Worcester police responded to a Grand Street apartment for a report of domestic threatening and a restraining order violation. Police met with the 23 year old female victim, who said that her ex-boyfriend, a 30-year-old man from Worcester, was verbally threatening her on the phone. She also told police she had an active restraining order on her ex, who repeatedly called her, threatening to do physical harm to both her and her family. He also warned her not to call the police.
While an officer was speaking with the female victim in the lobby of her apartment building, the suspect showed up on the scene. When the officer told him that he was under arrest for violation of a restraining order, the suspect tried to pull away from the officer and began reaching towards his pocket. At this time, the officer tackled the male to the ground. The suspect continued to resist and was able to stand up from the ground and attempt to flee.
At this time, a second officer came in to the lobby to help apprehend him. The man was tackled to the ground by both officers, and he continued to again fight and resist arrest. During the struggle on the ground, one of the officers spotted that he had a steak knife in his hand. Officers told the man to stop resisting and drop the knife. He refused. During a struggle to the ground, the suspect stabbed one of the officers in the face. Officers continued to fight with the suspect, and were eventually able to tase him. At this time, officers were able to take the male into custody.
The Worcester officer was transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. The officer required stitches to close his wound. He has been treated and released and is currently recovering.
The suspect was also transported to an area hospital to be evaluated.
The male is being charged with violation of a restraining order, trespassing, resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, attempted murder, mayhem, and threatening to commit a crime.
Due to Massachusetts State Law regarding domestic related incidents, police are unable to release the name of the suspect at this time.
