Pedestrian Critically Injured Crossing Belmont St. In Worcester

The 30-year-old Dudley man was crossing in front of UMass Memorial when a driver hit him.

WORCESTER, MA — A 30-year-old man from Dudley was critically injured late Monday night when a driver in a sedan hit him along Belmont Street in Worcester.

The collision happened near 11 p.m. when the pedestrian was crossing the busy street near the UMass Memorial Medical Center Memorial Campus.

The driver, a 66-year-old man from Worcester, remained at the scene of the collision, but Worcester police did not immediately announce any charges.

Police said the victim was crossing near 128 Belmont St. There is a crosswalk near the address, but it does not feature flashing yellow lights like one farther west near Edward Street.
