Police Investigate Crash on Lincoln That Injured a Pedestrian

Breaking: According to witnesses, the woman was not in the crosswalk when she was struck.

WORCESTER, MA—

On Tuesday, Oct. 11, at approximately 6:30 a.m. the Worcester Police Accident Reconstruction Team responded to a report of a pedestrian accident on Lincoln Street at the intersection of Catherine Street. The pedestrian was a 57-year-old woman from Ayer, who was rushed to the hospital with injuries to her arm, collarbone and leg.

Her condition is unknown.

According to witnesses, the female was attempting to cross Lincoln Street when she was struck by a Honda Accord. She started to cross the street when the north and south bound lanes had a green traffic signal. She backed up to avoid being hit by a truck driving north, and as she backed up she was hit by the Accord, which was operated by 57-year-old female from Worcester.

During the investigation, officers learned that the female did not use the crosswalk or pedestrian crossing signals attached to the lights.

The investigation is ongoing.
