Popular Italian Eatery Announces Central MA Opening

The Rhode Island-based eatery is set to join about 10 new businesses coming to the Worcester County shopping center.

MILLBURY, MA — A popular Italian eatery will soon make its Worcester County debut.

Avvio Ristorante is set to open at The Shops at Blackstone Valley in early fall, the business announced on its website. The Rhode Island-based Italian restaurant previously targeted a summer opening.

The restaurant will occupy the former UNO Pizzeria and Grill space at 70 Worcester-Providence Turnpike, Suite 441. UNO closed its Millbury restaurant in February 2024.

Avvio’s menu features Italian classics, wood-fired pizzas, pasta, entrees and salads. The restaurant’s original location has operated at Garden City Center in Cranston, Rhode Island, since 2016.

The restaurant is part of Newport Restaurant Group, which also operates Bar ‘Cino locations in Brookline, Watertown and Westwood and Papa Razzi in Wellesley.

More Businesses Coming To The Shops At Blackstone Valley

Avvio is among several businesses planned for the Millbury shopping center.

The Shops at Blackstone Valley announced plans in March for nearly 35,000 square feet of new retail space across two buildings, Patch previously reported. The development is expected to bring about 10 businesses to the property.

Shake Shack, Sweetgreen and medspa chain LaserAway were among the businesses announced for the new space. Intimates retailer Aerie was also expected to open at the shopping center.

Developer WS Development previously said it was targeting mid-2026 to complete the buildings’ base construction.
