Popular Worcester Playground Gets $1M State Funding For Renovation

The playground will be replaced, along with the addition of a full basketball court.

WORCESTER, MA — A popular playground in Worcester got funding for a renovation.

Lakeview Playground recieved $1 million in funding from the state. Gov. Healey announced nearly $6.4 million in grants for public parks and outdoor spaces in Massachusetts in a news release issued on Thursday.

The renovation will include the removal of the existing playground and half-court basketball court at 125 Coburn Ave. The playground will be replaced, along with the addition of a full basketball court, according to the release.

There will also be additional seating, picnic tables, lighting, a shelter, trees and other improvements.
