POW! WOW! Worcester is excited to announce the the local and international artists participating in the mural festival.

WORCESTER, MA - From Pow Wow Worcester: POW WOW! Worcester has announced nine art and community-centered events taking place from August 25 to September 3 as 32 artists descend upon the city to create more than 29 murals.

“POW WOW! Worcester is a multi-faceted celebration of the arts and city that brings with it ten days of community events and activities. I can’t wait to celebrate our city with everyone as we see art take shape before our eyes,” said Jessica Walsh, Director of POW! WOW! Worcester.

Artists from Worcester, numerous states in the US and from nine countries around the world bring vibrancy and color to the city through their creations. Local talent will be represented by Worcester artists Scott Boilard, Ferdinand, Eamon Gillen, and Kai Griffiths. These artists will be joined by renowned artists such as PichiAvo, Stash and 123 Klan.

“POW WOW! Worcester celebrates talent far and wide. I am excited to see what all the artists will create this year, but having such a diverse array of backgrounds, locations and styles of our various artists will create a unique experience for everyone who takes part in the art festival,” said Artist Management Committee Chair Che Anderson.

A slew of events will allow community members from near and far to engage in festivities over the ten days of POW WOW! Worcester. New events this year range from a soccer challenge with the New England Revolution on August 31to a community day where children are invited to create their own art in Elm Park on August 26.

Favorite events from last year’s POW WOW! Worcester also make a reprisal. The popular Entering Worcester ARTraiser will again allow people to bid on custom Entering Worcester signs designed by one of 50 artists from around world. An artist panel sponsored by Juxtapoz Magazine will feature Kristin Farr, Cornbread, 123 Klan, Dan Weintraub and Ash Chan.

“The events this year celebrate Worcester and the community that art creates. With something for every age range and interest, the events of POW WOW! Worcester enhance the art that is going up over ten days. I encourage everyone to come out, enjoy some art and enjoy Worcester,” said Events Committee Chair Charlotte Holberry.

Visitors to the city during POW WOW! Worcester will be able to see the transformation taking place at 29 walls throughout the city. These walls include the largest wall to be painted this summer at the highly anticipated Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center, through generous support from the Worcester Railers HC Foundation. It will measure 240 feet across and 33 feet high and will be tackled by a team of talented artists led by Five 8 and Earth Crusher of Montreal, Canada. Another ambitious project to be undertaken during POW WOW! Worcester will be 14 walls to be painted at Elm Park Community School following a successful Patronicity campaign. The campaign reached its crowdfunding goal of $50,000 and the project won a matching grant with funds from MassDevelopment’s Commonwealth Places program. More information is available at http://www.Patronicity.com/Worcester.

Elm Park Community School will be joined by one elementary school in each quadrant of the city, each of which will receive at least one mural. The schools that have been selected are: Worcester Arts Magnet, Rice Square and Caterbury Street Magnet Computer-Based School.
