WORCESTER, MA — The Worcester Red Sox will continue to add new features to Polar Park this summer, starting with a new grassy viewing area opening this week.

The team will hold a ribbon cutting Tuesday for a grassy berm seating area in left field before a six-day homestand against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. The berm has been visible for weeks, but the team had to wait for the grass to grow before opening it to fans.

Before the end of summer, the team will install a duck boat at the Summit Street entrance — but not just any amphibious craft, it's Beantown Betty, the same boat that has carried the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics during parades after championships. It will be on permanent display in Worcester.

The team is also restoring Worcester's Sherwood Diner — which used to sit at the corner of Foster and Front streets — as a space for the WooSox Foundation. The diner will also live at the Summit Street entrance, and will be used for autograph signings and other fundraisers.

Finally, Polar Park will soon host a "Taste of Worcester" event this summer, where food from local restaurants like Nuovo, Taco Calients, Akra and Chashu Ramen will be available.
