Route 146 Wrong Way Crash Leaves 3 Seriously Hurt, Worcester Man Charged

State police charge a Worcester man with Driving Under the Influence (resulting in serious bodily injuries) and Reckless Driving.

WORCESTER, MA—Three people suffered serious injuries after a wrong way crash at 3 a.m. Saturday on Route 146, and a Worcester man has been charged with DUI, state police said.

State police have released the names of the people hurt and updated the wrong-way driver's medical condition. Aleksandro Mihali, 22, of Worcester, was traveling south in the northbound lanes of Route 146 when he hit a Honda Accord head-on, police allege. The accident happened about 800 feet south of the state line. Mihali and the passenger in his car, Poliana Kristani, 23, also Worcester, were taken to Rhode Island Hospital. and reported with serious injuries.

Gabriela Reyes, 19, of Boston, and a passenger in her car, Sonia Sandy, 21, of Worcester, were also reported with serious injuries at Rhode Island Hospital. They were in a Honda traveling northbound in the high-speed lane on Route 146 when their car was struck head-on.

Mihali was charged with three counts of Driving under the influence (resulting in serious bodily injury) and Reckless driving.

The accident investigation is ongoing.
