Shark Week just got a lot more interesting!

Brian Skerry, Nat Geo photographer and Aquarium Explorer-in-Residence takes over Aquarium's Instagram account with shark stories & photos.

In celebration of Shark Week, Brian Skerry, the New England Aquarium’s esteemed Explorer-in-Residence and author of the book, “SHARK,” is taking over the Aquarium’s Instagram account for the week and sharing his incredible stories and images from years of photographing sharks all over the world for National Geographic.

Skerry has spent more than 10,000 hours underwater in locations worldwide, photographing sharks and other marine life in his 35-year career. The Uxbridge, Mass., resident has lived at the bottom of the sea, spent months aboard fishing boats and traveled in everything from snowmobiles to canoes to the Goodyear Blimp. He has done several features for National Geographic on sharks in the last few years including one on tiger sharks, great whites, oceanic whitetip sharks, and shortfin mako sharks. Photos and videos of Skerry working underwater are part of the Aquarium’s “Science of Sharks” exhibit.

Here is a look at Skerry’s Instagram takeover, and the Aquarium’s blog about it.
