WORCESTER, MA — The Worcester County District Attorney has charged a Fitchburg man in connection to a shipment of Molly — also known as MDMA or ecstasy — sent to Central Massachusetts from Eastern Europe.

According to the DA,'s office state police detectives were alerted by U.S. Department of Homeland Security police about a suspicious package that was on its way from Slovenia to an address in Barre. A K9 working for U.S. Customs and Border Patrol alerted that the package may contain drugs during a search at JFK International Airport in New York City.

When police opened the package, they found 135 grams of pills and a 506-gram rock of suspected MDMA. Police allowed the package to continue through the mail. They arrested Christopher Barker, 28, after he received the package, the DA's office said. He is facing a charge of possession of a class B drug with intent to distribute and was arraigned on Tuesday at East Brookfield District Court.
