WORCESTER COUNTY, MA — On Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning indicating that western and central Massachusetts could see some of the heaviest snowfall predicted for Thursday.

There are still predictions of 4 to 9 inches in Worcester proper, but some areas of the county further north see a dumping of a foot (such as Fitchburg).

The storm warning issued for Western and Central Massachusetts remains in effect from Thursday morning through Friday morning.

The heavy snow is expected to develop late Thursday morning and become heavy through Thursday afternoon and early night. The snow should taper off after midnight. NWS warns of hazardous driving conditions, wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour, and visibility of one quarter of a mile or less at times.
