State Police ID Officer Hit By Driver In Fitchburg
A Worcester County police task force went to a Mechanic Street home to serve a warrant on Wednesday when a fleeing driver hit the officer.
BOYLSTON, MA — State police have identified the officer who was hit by a car on Wednesday in Fitchburg as a member of the Boylston Police Department.
The Boylston officer was acting as a member of the Worcester County Drug Task force when he and other police went to a Fitchburg home to serve a search warrant. The man who police were seeking hit the officer when he fled his Mechanic Street home in a car, state police said in a news release.
The Boylston officer was taken to UMass Memorial in Worcester for treatment of non-life threatening injuries

Police spent much of day on Wednesday searching for the man who hit the officer, but did not immediately announce any arrests.
