Storm Inbound: Worcester Area Under Weather Advisory

A quick thunderstorm may roll through Worcester and other towns in the southern part of the county, according to forecasts.

WORCESTER, MA — The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement covering Worcester and areas just south of the city.

The weather service says a quick thunderstorm may roll through the area before 5 p.m. The storm has the potential to bring pea-sized hail, rain and wind gusts up to 40 mph. Thunder could already be heard in the Worcester area around 4 p.m.

Thunderstorms were popping up across the state late afternoon, with highly localized storms detected in the Boston area, Merrimack Valley and southern Middlesex County.

The National Weather Service advised local residents to seek shelter until the storm passes around 5 p.m.
