String Of Shoplifting At Multiple CVS Locations Leads To Arrest

Detectives have made an arrest connected to a string of shoplifting that hit two CVS locations in Worcester.

WORCESTER, MA—In a case involving two CVS locations, police have arrested a man in a string of shoplifting incidents that totaled nearly $1,500 in stolen merchandise over a month's time.

Worcester detectives have been recently working on a case involving a string of shoplifting incidents involving two different CVS Stores, one located at 115 Stafford St. and the other at 400 Park Ave. There have been seven incidents that started on Feb. 28 and continued through April 4. The total amount of stolen merchandise taken throughout the time period was $1,345.34.

Each shoplifting incident was captured on store security cameras, and detectives quickly recognized that it was the same person involved in all of the incidents.

While going over recent arrest booking photographs, a detective came upon an April 2 photo of a male who had been arrested for shoplifting at Walgreens located at 320 Park Ave. The booking picture matched the suspect, and he was identified as Juan Claudio, 31, Quincy Street, Worcester.

The search for Claudio began on April 5, and around noon, detectives found him standing at the corner of Main and Gardner streets. Claudio was placed under arrest without incident and transported back to police headquarters for questioning.
As a result of the investigation, Mr. Claudio was charged with two Counts of Larceny over the Value of $250.00 and five Counts of Shoplifting.

Claudio was arraigned at the Worcester County District Courthouse on Thursday, April 6.
