Teen Shot, Killed In Worcester: City's First Homicide This Year
A 16-year-old was found shot in the street in Worcester.
WORCESTER, MA—In the city's first homicide of the year, a 16-year-old has died from injuries suffered from a gun shot would late Saturday night.
The Worcester Telegram & Gazette reports the teen as 16-year-old Sidney Krow Jr.
On Saturday, May 26, at approximately 11:20 p.m., police responded to the area of Holland Street for a report of gunshots and that a male had been shot. Police found four young men tending to the 16-year-old lying in the road by 1232 Main St. He was suffering from a gunshot wound.
Upon the officers arrival they observed a group of 4 young males tending to a 16-year-old male lying in the road by 1232 Main Street. The male was suffering from a gunshot wound.
Worcester EMS arrived at the scene and treated the victim before transported him to a local hospital, while officers searched the area and found ballistic evidence in the area of 4 Holland Road.
Worcester PD detectives arrived and canvassed the area. The four teens present were interviewed. The teen victim was pronounced dead at the hospital at approximately 11:58 p.m. The name of the victim will not be released at this time until all proper notifications have been made to family members.
According to an investigation, a group of males were walking back to a nearby home when several shots rang out. Several neighbors told police they thought the shots were fireworks. After the shooting, a male was seen getting into a small vehicle and then drove off.
At this time, there is little information on the circumstances leading up to the shooting as well as a motive for this incident.
