WORCESTER, MA — A teenager is facing multiple charges after he allegedly stole a car, took off in it, and jumped from it when police pulled him over, leading them on a foot chase.

Shortly before 8 a.m. on Friday, March 10, police were called to Ward Street, where an SUV had been stolen. The owner said he had just left his 2007 Toyota Highlander running outside of his apartment for a short amount of time when someone took off in it.

About a half hour later, an officer on Winthrop Street spotted the vehicle, which was being driven by a 15-year-old male from Worcester. Police pulled him over near 79 Fox St., where the teen jumped out of the rolling car and bolted north on Fox Street. Police caught him as he tried to run across Providence Street.

The juvenile is being charged with Use of a Motor Vehicle w/out Authority, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct.
