Trial For Blackstone Woman Accused Of Killing Babies Begins

Erika Murray was indicted in 2014 and is facing two counts of second-degree murder and other charges in the case.

WORCESTER, MA — Erika Murray, a Blackstone woman charged with two counts of second-degree murder, among other things, had her first day in court on Tuesday. Murray was arrested and indicted in 2014 in connection with the deaths of two infants whose remains were found in a closet of her home, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

On Sept. 10, State Police Detectives entered the home Murray shared with her boyfriend, looking for two children, a 3-year-old and 5-month old who a neighbor said had been neglected in the home. During the search they found the remains of an infant in the trash-strewn, vermin-infested home. A second search on Sept. 11 led to the discovery of two more infant remains.

Her boyfriend, Raymond Rivera, who was living in the home, 39-year-old Ramon Rivera, faces child abuse charges.
