Unemployment Rate Rose In Greater Worcester In July: Report
More than 5,700 residents are unemployed in Worcester, according to the Worcester Business Journal.
WORCESTER, MA — The unemployment rate in Greater Worcester went up slightly last month, according to the Worcester Business Journal.
The Greater Worcester area's unemployment rate rose 0.1 percentage points, from 4.9% last month. The Worcester Business Journal reported, using data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, that the unemployment rate now sits at 5%.
The statewide rate was 4.8% for July. But in Worcester specifically, the number is higher.
The unemployment rate in the city was 5.3% for July. That's .3 percent higher than in July 2024.
Approximately 5,873 residents are unemployed in Worcester, according to the WBJ.
