251-Unit Apartment Building In Worcester Planned For Downtown Lot

WORCESTER, MA — A parking lot perched atop a hill overlooking downtown Worcester may soon sprout a large apartment development, according to plans submitted recently to the city.

Newton-based 13 Sudbury Realty LLC submitted a proposal to build a six-story, 251-unit apartment building at 8 Harvard St. The development would total about 57,000 square-feet and include a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units.

According to state records, 13 Sudbury Realty LLC's manager is Anthony Rossi, the developer behind other recent Worcester projects like the Walker Lofts. Through a separate LLC, Rossi is redeveloping a building at 33 Hermon St. into a 57-unit apartment development.

Rossi is also working to redevelop a former state building at 13 Sudbury St. — right across the street from 8 Harvard St. — into a 100-unit residential building.

The Harvard Street project is set to go before the Planning Board on April 6 for a public hearing.
