Vigil For Tyre Nichols In Worcester Follows Bodycam Footage Release
The candlelight vigil at Worcester City Hall comes after video of Nichols' beating by police was released Friday.

WORCESTER, MA — A candlelight vigil for Tyre Nichols will be held Monday in Worcester following the release of video showing the 29-year-old's brutal beating at the hands of Memphis police earlier this month.
Members of a Memphis police specialized crime unit called SCORPION pulled Nichols over on Jan. 7. Body camera and surveillance video footage released Friday shows the officers pulling Nichols out of a car, beating him with their feet and fists, dousing him with pepper spray and deploying Taser weapons on him.
Nichols died three days after the beating. A statement released by Memphis police after the beating said police had a "confrontation" with the 29-year-old that led to him being injured.
