What’s Next For Holiday Road Site? Wayland To Vote On $200K Study

The parcel owned by the School Committee was acquired in 1956 as a potential site for a new school, but it has remained undeveloped.

WAYLAND, MA — Among the topics to be discussed and voted upon at Wayland's 2026 Annual Town Meeting is the future of a town-owned parcel at 25 Holiday Road.

Ahead of the Annual Town Meeting, which begins on May 4, the Select Board invites the community to discuss and learn more about Article 16. The article asks voters to decide whether the town should spend $200,000 on studies and planning regarding a site at 25 Holiday Rd.

The 13.72 square acre parcel of land on Holiday Road is currently under the care, control and custody of the Wayland School Committee. It was acquired in 1956 as a potential site for a new school, but it has remained undeveloped.

The site has been identified for many potential uses, such as active or passive recreation, town use, or a future school or housing development.

Article 16 seeks to determine whether the town will vote to appropriate, or set aside, $200,000 under the joint direction of the Select Board and the School Committee. The money would go toward studies, planning, and analyses to determine whether the site at 25 Holiday Rd. is best suited for sale or redevelopment.

In more simple terms, Article 16 asks voters whether the town should spend $200,000 to determine whether the property should be sold or redeveloped.

The Select Board is hosting a public forum on Monday, Apr 13, for the public to learn more about the property, the town meeting article and ask questions.

The meeting will be held at 7:15 p.m in the Wayland Commons Room at Town Building, 41 Cochituate Rd.
