WORCESTER, MA — Patriots' Day is Monday. Only Massachusetts and Maine recognize the holiday, which is also the same day as the Boston Marathon.

For most people in Massachusetts, it's a day off from work or school. Patriots' Day also marks the Battles of Lexington and Concord, which kicked off the Revolutionary War.

Here's a handy list of what's open (and closed) in the Bay State on Patriots' Day:

  • Worcester trash pickup: Delayed one day.
  • Supermarkets, liquor stores, and convenience stores: Open
  • Retail stores: Most open
  • Bars and restaurants: Open
  • Stock market: Open
  • Town Offices: Closed
  • State offices: Closed

On Marathon Monday, various bus routes on both the North and South sides will be detoured. Due to congestion, bikes are not allowed on any MBTA vehicles on Patriots' Day. An all-day pass is being offered for the Framingham/Worcester line, which traces part of the marathon route. Copley Station will be closed all day Monday.
