WORCESTER, MA — Voters in Massachusetts will have the option of voting by mail in 2022, which means skipping the polls and the ability to cast your ballot weeks before Election Day.

State lawmakers made no-excuse mail voting permanent this year after the state temporarily allowed voting by mail during the pandemic. There are two important elections coming up this year, including a Sept. 6 primary — which includes races for governor, attorney general and the 1st Worcester District state Senate seat — followed by the general election on Nov. 8.

If you plan on voting by mail, putting your ballot in a city drop box is the safest bet.

In Worcester, all drop boxes are located at fire stations, which means there's always someone watching them. Using a drop box also ensures your ballot will go straight to the city clerk, rather than through U.S. mail. You can also track your ballot on the Secretary of State's website.
