Woman, Friend, Arrested on Heroin And Coke Charges While Son Slept: Police

A woman and a man were arrested on possession charges, an 8-year-old boy was placed in DCF custody, and a pit bull was taken from a home.

WORCESTER, MA — A boy is in the custody of DCF, and a pit bull is removed from the home, after police searched a woman's apartment and arrested both occupants.

Members of Worcester police's vice squad searched a Suffield Street apartment on Thursday, arresting Heather Philip, 35. At approximately 9:30 a.m., police found Philip inside the apartment, also 35-year-old Gino Faiola who was coming out of the bedroom at the time. When he saw police, Failoa took a bag of cocaine out of his pants pocket, ripped it open, and attempted to throw it onto the floor as he walked toward the pantry. Police grabbed him and tried to put him in handcuffs, but he tried to pull away and run. Police handcuffed him, and while clearing the apartment, found Philip's 8-year-old son asleep in another bedroom.

A search of the apartment yielded approximately 7 grams of powder cocaine, 2 grams of crack cocaine, a plastic bag containing heroin, digital scales, packaging material, and one live round of .380 ammunition.
Heather Philip was placed under arrest and is being charged with Possession of a Class B Substance with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Class A Substance, Possession of a Class E Substance, and Possession of Ammo w/out an FID. Gino Faiola is being charged with Possession of a Class B Substance w/ the Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Class A Substance, Possession of a Class E Substance, Possession of Ammo w/out an FID, and Resisting Arrest.
Due to the nature of the investigation as well as the conditions in the apartment and presence of illegal narcotics, members of the Vice Squad contacted DCF who arrived on scene and took custody of the child.
Worcester Police Animal Control was also on scene and removed a pit bull from the apartment.
Philip and Faiola will be arraigned tomorrow in Worcester District Court.
