Worcester Among Most Dangerous Cities to Live in Massachusetts: Study

WORCESTER, MA—It's not meant to "name and shame," says the study, but OnlyInYourState on Tuesday released its ten most dangerous cities in which to live list, and Worcester's on it at number seven.

OnlyInYourState considered the most recent F.B.I. crime report and Home Security Sheild’s crime data to create a Top-10 list of the most dangerous cities in Massachusetts. To be considered, only cities with a population greater than 5,000 were in the mix, and ranked in order of the violent crime rate. The study also includes the likelihood of becoming a victim of a crime, and property crime statistics.

Here's the list, according to OnlyInYourState:

1. Chelsea
2. Brockton
3. New Bedford
4. Fall River
5. Springfield
6. Lawrence
7. Worcester
8. Holyoke
9. Boston
10. Lynn

But we all know Worcester's still a fine place to visit and work. Thrillist, in fact, last year rated Worcester among the top "underrated" places to spend some time in the Commonwealth.
