Worcester Awarded $400K For Crompton Park Renovations
Worcester was one of 19 communities to receive funding to help develop parks and recreation spaces.

WORCESTER, MA- Worcester joins 18 other communities receiving funding through the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs’ (EEA) Parkland Acquisitions and Renovations for Communities (PARC) grant program.
The PARC Program was established in 1977 to assist cities and towns in acquiring and developing land for park and outdoor recreation purposes. Any community with an up-to-date Open Space and Recreation Plan is eligible to apply for the program.
Worcester was awarded $400,000 for phase three of its renovations on Crompton Park. The project includes upgrading current walkways to ADA accessible ones. Phase three also incorporates the renovation of an existing basketball court and adding a new basketball court along with upgrading the court lighting system, electrical service, and current drainage. Benches lining the court are set to be replaced as well. The city received the same grant in 2016 to being the renovation of Crompton Park.
“Investing in these important park projects will make our parks safer, increase recreational opportunities, and improve access for people of all abilities,” said Governor Charlie Baker.
