Worcester Cancels School Ahead Of Icy Winter Storm
Several local districts are already canceling classes Friday ahead of a potentially icy, snowy storm.

WORCESTER, MA — School districts and private schools in the Worcester area are canceling classes ahead of a Friday winter storm that could bring snow and ice to the region.
All Worcester Public Schools buildings and Notre Dame Academy in Worcester will be closed on Friday. St. John's High School in Shrewsbury and the Auburn Child Health Associates office were also canceled for Friday.
It was already raining in Worcester on Thursday afternoon. But that precipitation was expected to turn into a mix of sleet and snow during the overnight hours. The National Weather Service also predicted a possible "flash freeze" with dropping temperatures.

"Wintry mix of rain to freezing rain to sleet and finally snow is expected. Also a flash freeze as cold air rushes in," the weather service said in a tweet. "Road crews can't easily pre-treat when it's raining, so roads may quickly get icy before being treated."
