Worcester Cancels School Due To Freezing Temperatures
Lows could hit minus 11 degrees on Tuesday in Worcester as arctic air sweeps into the region.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester has canceled school on Tuesday, citing near-record low temperatures in the forecast that will make complying with COVID-19 regulations impossible.
According to the district, COVID-19 safety protocols call for school bus windows to stay open, which could pose a frostbite threat to students. The district is also seeing a rise in COVID-19 cases in bus drivers.
"There has been an increase of COVID-19 with transportation personnel, which would result in buses running up to 30 minutes late. The safety of our students and staff are always the focus of our decisions," the district said in a tweet thread on Monday evening.
