Worcester City CFO Zidelis To Retire
Tom Zidelis joined city government in 1986. His is the second high-profile retirement recently after City Clerk Susan M. Ledoux.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester Chief Financial Officer Tom Zidelis will retire from city government in March after 34 years, according to the city manager's office. He's the second high-profile official to depart after City Clerk Susan Ledoux announced her retirement last week.
Zidelis' last day will be around March 9. He began working in city government in 1986, but left in 2006 to work for the state Department of Corrections. He returned in 2008 as CFO during the Great Recession.
In a statement, City Manager Edward Augustus lauded Zidelis for his work on the Worcester Red Sox deal, and for helping the city improve its credit rating. The city will start the search for a new CFO soon.
"He is a true expert in municipal finance and will be greatly missed,” Augustus said in a statement. "I was truly fortunate to work alongside Tom for the past six years, and we wish him the best in his well-deserved retirement."
Ledoux will retire by March 20, and the City Council Legislative Operations Committee has begun the process of finding her replacement.
Worcester City Solicitor David Moore retired in January. Worcester Chief Development Officer Michael Traynor is taking Moore's job while the city searches for Traynor's replacement.
