WORCESTER, MA — Worcester Public Schools switched from a 2-hour delay to a full closure around 8 a.m. Thursday following a powerful nor'easter that hit the region overnight.

Thursday's closure includes the Irving Street administrative offices, preschool and Head Start.

"We have changed our decision to a closure in the interest of safety for children and staff," the district said in a tweet.

Many in Worcester awoke Thursday to about an inch of snow and sleet, with many roads untreated as of the morning commute time.
