Worcester Company To Sponsor Pan-Mass Challenge Bike-A-Thon Start

The Pan-Mass Challenge is the largest single athletic fundraising event in the country.

WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester-based company will help support the Pan-Mass Challenge as the cycling fundraiser launches from the city for the first time.

Greenwood Industries announced Wednesday it will serve as the official Worcester hub site sponsor for the Pan-Mass Challenge, which raises money for cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Riders will leave from the College of the Holy Cross on Aug. 1, 2026, as part of routes across Massachusetts, according to the company.

The sponsorship expands Greenwood’s existing partnership with the Pan-Mass Challenge. Greenwood has been based in Worcester for more than 30 years, according to the company.

“We are proud to stand with the Pan-Mass Challenge as it begins this new chapter in Worcester,” Greenwood Industries CEO Dave Klein said in a statement. “This partnership brings together an important cause and a city whose resilience, determination, and community spirit mirror the values that define the PMC.”

The Pan-Mass Challenge is the largest single athletic fundraising event in the country, bringing together riders, volunteers, sponsors and donors each year, according to Greenwood.

“Launching a Worcester start line is a powerful next chapter for the PMC and having Greenwood Industries as our Worcester hub site sponsor makes it even more special,” Pan-Mass Challenge Founder and Chairman Billy Starr said in a statement.

Greenwood employees will volunteer throughout the weekend and help send riders off on the morning of the event, according to the company.

“This is a meaningful opportunity for Greenwood to give back, both to our hometown and to the broader effort to advance cancer research and care,” Klein said.
