Worcester County Man Charged After Teen's Rape: DA

Jose Herrera was arrested in Connecticut on Friday in connection to sexual assaults that took place in Dudley in 2016.

WORCESTER, MA — A 52-year-old Dudley man was arrested in Connecticut on Friday and returned to Massachusetts to face charges for raping a teenager, the Worcester County District Attorney said.

Jose Herrera was charged on Friday with four counts of child rape, two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, and one count of witness intimidation.

According to prosecutors, the sexual assaults of the teen took place four years ago in Dudley.

A Worcester County prosecutor asked that Herrera be held on $100,000 bail, but a judge set the bail at $10,000. Herrera's next court date is May 5, and he will have to wear a monitoring device if he makes bail.
