Worcester County Man Manufactured 'Ghost' Guns: FBI
The 31-year-old sold the homemade guns to an informant, according to federal prosecutors.
WORCESTER, MA — A Brookfield man has been indicted on weapons charges for manufacturing and selling homemade "ghost" guns, according to federal prosecutors.
A federal grand jury indicted Mickie Simmons Monday on charges of conspiracy to deal guns without a license, dealing guns without a license and two counts of being a felon in possession of ammunition, according to federal prosecutors.
According to prosecutors, Simmons sold "ghost" guns — untraceable firearms assembled at home with a kit — to an confidential informant. Federal agents later searched Simmons' home and discovered more than a dozen ghost gun kits, including an AR-15-style weapons.
Simmons was convicted and later spent time in prison in 2014 on breaking and entering, larceny and conspiracy charges.
Simmons will appear at federal court in Worcester Tuesday for an initial hearing.
