The married couple sold the victim for sex in New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut, according to prosecutors.
WORCESTER, MA — A federal grand jury has indicted a married couple from Worcester on sex trafficking charges, finding that the couple trafficked a victim across four New England states, according to court records.
Kiersten Soto, 29, and Moises Soto, 30, both of Everard Street, were initially arrested on Dec. 16. They were each formally charged Wednesday with one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, one count of sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion, and one count of traveling or using interstate facilities to promote unlawful activities.
According to federal prosecutors, the Sotos traveled around Massachusetts and to New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Connecticut to sell the victim for commercial sex. The trafficking took place between February and May, according to court records.
Although arrested by federal authorities, state police and Marlborough and Worcester police helped investigate the allegations against the couple. They could face up to 15 years in federal prison and fines in the hundreds of thousands, according to prosecutors.
