Worcester Free Coronavirus Test, Flu Shot Events: Nov. 9 - 12

Get a free test of flu shot at events in Worcester planned for Nov. 9, 10 and 12.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester will host three free pop-up events this week featuring flu shots, coronavirus tests and personal health supplies like face coverings.

Worcester has been holding pop-up testing events for weeks, but there are also several permanent free coronavirus testing facilities in the city through the state's Stop the Spread program.

This week's events will take place on Nov. 9, 10 and 11 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Mercantile Center, 201 Commercial St. Bring an insurance card if you're planning to get a flu shot.

The state Department of Public Health no longer considers Worcester a red "high-risk" community for coronavirus spread. DPH last week changed the way it rates coronavirus risk in individual communities.

Worcester is now rated yellow on the state's list, which means there are more than 10 new cases per day per 100,000 people over a two-week period, and the positive test rate is below 4 percent. Worcester was averaging 16 new cases per day per 100,000 people over the last two weeks, but the positive test rate was down to 1.28 percent. The statewide positive test rate was 1.82 percent last week.
