Worcester JCC’s 50 Year Gala Attracts Attention

The Annual Gala to benefit its Youth Scholarship Programs will be held on Saturday, February 4 in Worcester.

From Worcester JCC: The Worcester JCC announced that its Annual Gala to benefit its Youth Scholarship Programs is attracting wide support from the community, including business sponsorships. The Gala will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Mechanics Hall, 321 Main Street in Worcester, MA beginning at 6:00 p.m., and will include hors d’oeuvres, dinner, a silent auction and music, as well as special recognition for eight dedicated JCC staff members.

“The Annual Gala is an extremely important event for us, as it provides critical funding that has helped thousands of children in need attend and benefit from our programs,” said Emily Holdstein, Executive Director of the Worcester JCC. “We are very grateful to our sponsors from the business community who have stepped forward to help. These leaders are certainly great examples of how the JCC works to bring everyone together.”

Business Sponsors for the JCC Gala include Insurance Marketing Agencies, Imperial Distributors, Dodge Park Rest Home & Oasis at Dodge Park, Becker College, Webster Five, Assabet Advisors, Carolyn and June Designs, Reliant Medical Group, St. Vincent Hospital, and Gray Analysis/UBS.

Local talent stepping forward to participate in the Gala:

  • WAAF radio personality Mike Hsu, who is part of the station’s morning team weekdays from 5:30 to 10 a.m., will act as guest emcee. Mike is also a member of the JCC.
  • Sally Rose Stempler, a gifted singer/songwriter and Berklee College of Music alum, will entertain guests during the cocktail hour.
  • The Soul Sensations, a New England R&B band and Motown dance band will perform during and after dinner.

A major theme for the Annual Gala is the celebration of 50 years at the JCC’s 633 Salisbury Street location in Worcester. Many wonderful changes and enhancements have been made over the decades, helping to establish the now 80,000 square foot center community center as a hub of activity, learning and sharing for thousands of people throughout the region.

Honorees to be recognized for their years of outstanding service and contributions to the JCC include program department heads Bob Berman, Robin Burwick, Megan Catlin, Elaine Drawbridge, Nancy Greenberg, Tali Mugg, Kelly Sampson and Sandy Scola.
