Worcester Man Caught With Backpack Full Of Opioids Sentenced

WORCESTER, MA — A former Worcester man who was arrested in 2018 with a backpack full of heroin and fentanyl will spend more than two years in federal prison, prosecutors said Monday.

Jonathan Francisco Bobadilla-Rosa, 31, was sentenced on Monday to 28 months in prison, plus one year of supervised release. Bobadilla-Rosa pleaded guilty to drug and identity theft charges in November.

According to prosecutors, Bobadilla-Rosa was arrested in December 2018 while carrying a backpack that contained at least 40 grams of fentanyl and 100 grams of heroin. After his arrest, he gave police a fake ID that belonged to a person from Puerto Rico, prosecutors said.

Bobadilla-Rosa, who is from the Dominican Republic, was later charged with possession with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin and 40 grams or more of fentanyl, false representation of a social security number, and aggravated identity theft.
