Worcester Man Caught With Crack Facing Drug Charges: Police
The man tried to ditch a handgun and crack cocaine while running away from the police.

WORCESTER, MA- A Worcester is facing drug and weapons charges after he tried running from police, ditching a handgun and a bag containing crack cocaine behind him, police said.
Two Worcester Police Officers were working a paid detail Thursday night near Pleasant and Hawley Street when one officer recognized Marcelle Garrett-May from a previous interaction, according to police. The officer noticed what looked like the outline of a gun in his pocket and walked toward Garrett-May, knowing from his previous interaction that he didn't have a gun license, police said.
Garrett-May ran from the officers, throwing something down a sewer basin and another object onto the side of the road. Once officers caught up with him and placed him under arrest they found that the small item thrown on the side of the road appeared to be a bag of several individual crack cocaine rocks. Police worked with DPW employees to search the sewer basin and found a loaded, black hand-gun.
Garrett-May was charged with Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Use of a Firearm in a Felony, Possession of a Class B Substance with Intent to Distribute and Resisting Arrest.
