Worcester Man Charged With Armed Robbery

Worcester police reported a quick turnaround between getting reports of an armed robbery and arresting a suspect.

WORCESTER, MA- Worcester police arrested 43-year-old Eric Rivera on Friday and charged him with armed robbery.

Worcester police say and officer was flagged down at 8:30 Friday morning by a person reporting an armed robbery. The officer saw a man running toward Hermon St, and was told that the man might have a gun. Shortly after this, dispatch got a call about an armed robbery from Advanced Auto Parts at 30 Millbury St.

One of the victims of the robbery had followed the suspect, and was frantically waving to the officers and saying that Rivera was the robber. A description given to police matched Rivera. He was asked to get on the ground but refused and struggled with police officers, who grabbed him by the arm, fearing he had a weapon.

Victims at the Advanced Auto Parts store said that a man had come in and demanded money with his hands in his pocket, as if he had a gun. The man said that he had a gun and would shoot them. They identified Rivera as the man who robbed the store and police found the stolen money on him.

He was charged with Armed Robbery and Resisting Arrest.
