Worcester Man Charged With Assault; Pulls Rifle on Neighbor Who Didn't Turn Down Music

A Worcester man is facing charges after a neighbor dispute.

WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester man allegedly pulled a rifle and threatened to use it if his neighbor didn't turn down the music.

On Sunday, Dec. 11, at approximately 6:45 p.m, Worcester police responded to a call of a dispute on Randall Street, where there was an ongoing issue with two of the neighbors.

Earlier in the evening, one of the residents was outside when he was approached by the neighbor (later identified as William Jeffers, 52, Worcester).

While holding a rifle, Jeffers walked toward the victim and threatened him, telling him that he would use the gun if the neighbor didn’t lower his music. Jeffers then tapped the rifle against his neighbor’s truck. The neighbor immediately called police, and police found that Jeffers' FID card had not been renewed.

Police then went to Jeffers’ house to locate him and place him under arrest for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. When police knocked, Jeffers jumped up off the couch, flung open the door and took an aggressive stance towards the officers. The officers tried to arrest him and he began swinging his arms and kicking in an attempt to break free. Officers were able to take him to the ground where he was placed into handcuffs.

A .22 caliber rifle was found in an upstairs room in the house.

Jeffers is being charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Improper Storage of a Firearm, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Threatening to Commit a Crime, and Resisting Arrest.
