Worcester Man Sentenced to 25 Years In Prison For Home Invasion

The home invasion happened in August of 2013.

WORCESTER, MA — A 34-year-old Worcester man was sentenced to 25 to 27 years in state prison today after being found guilty in December of home invasion, according to District Attorney Joseph Early. The home invasion happened on Aug. 29, 2013 at 2 Cohasset Street.

Devon McLeod as seen exiting a window at the Cohasset Street home during the investigation and was arrested. He was found with $2,000 in cash and several bags of marijuana, according to officials. McLeod was not alone during the invasion according to a statement released by police at the time of the incident.

“Police observed the muzzle flash of the gun and the males jumping out of the window just as the shots were fired,” the statement read.

The second suspect was Kasiem Smith — he was arrested as he tried to hide in a common hallway of a nearby apartment building, the statement read.

Judge Anthony Campo imposed the sentence, which was recommended by Assistant District Attorney Timothy A. Westerman and attorneys representing Mr. McLeod.
