Worcester Man Was Driving Around With Loaded AR-15: Police

Worcester police arrested the 35-year-old on Tuesday and charged him with drug and gun offenses.

WORCESTER, MA — A 35-year-old Worcester man was charged with various gun and drug offenses on Tuesday after police caught him driving around in the Main South neighborhood with a loaded rifle.

Police stopped Raymond Avila near Main and King streets. They saw an AR-15 like rifle in his back seat, which turned out to be loaded, police said.

After searching Avila's car, police found suspected cocaine, prescription opioids and Adderall, police said. Avila was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute, unlawfully carrying a rifle, possession of a loaded rifle without a license, possession of a rifle while committing a felony and several other weapons law violations.
