Worcester Market Owner Charged After Police Search
Officers found synthetic marijuana, alcohol and flavored tobacco inside the Worcester store, police said.
WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester market owner is facing charges following a lengthy police investigation prompted by neighborhood complaints, police said.
Julio Abreu, 60, is facing multiple charges after officers found synthetic marijuana, alcohol and flavored tobacco inside A&C Market, 6A Boylston St., around 11 a.m. on Friday.
Police said officers found multiple bags containing K2, also known as synthetic marijuana, which is classified as a Class C substance. Officers also seized a digital scale they said was consistent with drug distribution and $3,144 in cash.
Numerous boxes of flavored tobacco products and vapes were found during the search, along with several containers of alcohol, police said. The market does not have a liquor license or an exemption allowing it to sell flavored tobacco products, according to police.
Abreu was charged with distribution of a Class C substance, possession of a Class C substance with intent to distribute, illegal sale of alcohol without a liquor license and illegal sale of flavored tobacco.
